La tesi mostra il percorso progettuale svolto per ottenere una riedizione del testo The Commitments, di Roddy Doyle, caratterizzata da una forte componente visiva.
The title of the Thesis, Beyond the Book, refers to this context of redesign of the book, in which this common object must not be considered only in his content and linguistic aspect, but it is necessary to think also to a visual aspect that can support and emphasize the message. This is the aim of this project, an editorial product that does not stop at a simple transposition of a text on a sheet, but tries to go beyond, indeed, going over limits and conventions and giving a better fruition.
Il titolo della mia tesi, Oltre il libro, vuole indicare che, in questo contesto di riprogettazione di un libro, non bisogna fermarsi al piano puramente linguistico, ma bisogna pensare anche ad un livello visivo che possa supportare ed enfatizzare il messaggio. Questo è l’obiettivo primario del progetto, un prodotto editoriale che non si ferma alla semplice trasposizione su carta di un dato contenuto, ma cerca di spingersi oltre, appunto, superando i limiti e le convenzioni, migliorando la fruizione del testo.
This work is composed by three principal sections, that divide the design steps: Analysis (author’s biography and style, historical context and important features of the book), Concept (ideas, motivations and basic features of the project) and the Realization (consolidation of the idea: technical specifications that contain the choice of material, composition and binding).
L’elaborato si struttura in tre sezioni principali, per meglio dividere gli step progettuali: Analisi (biografia e stile narrativo dell’autore, contesto storico e caratteristiche di rilievo all’interno del romanzo), Concept (concetti, caratteristiche e motivazioni che costituiscono le basi del progetto), Realizzazione (concretizzazione dell’idea: specifiche tecniche che comprendono la scelta dei materiali, della composizione e della rilegatura).
